DENVER BURNS - SENIOR PASTOR

Denver grew up in Anderson, Indiana.  He was a teenager running the streets when he was invited church and met Jesus at age 16. Almost immediately after giving his heart to Jesus, he knew that God was calling him to the ministry.  It took a few more years for that call to become a reality.  In 2001, he began a four year journey in which he transitioned from Youth Pastor to Interim Pastor to Senior Pastor.  Denver has served in three churches. He has been at MCC since Easter of 2007.


He has been married to his wife, Marcia, since February 2003. Michiana Community Church is Marcia’s home church. Denver and Marcia have three boys: Benjamin, Caleb and Eli.

Denver enjoys making barbecue on his smoker, wood carving, fishing, and teasing and horsing around with his boys. While he is passionate about preaching the Word of God, you will find that he also tries to be a comedian often telling jokes in his sermons. (Usually he gets more groans than laughs.)

Sonya Leppelmier - Famiily Pastor

​Sonya's passion is to see children and families grow in their love for Jesus.  She has served in multiple Children's Ministry roles for over 15 years, including three years on staff.  Sonya joined the MCC team in October of 2020. Sonya is deeply committed to helping Children's Ministry volunteers develop their skills and leadership abilities.

In the Fall of 2021, Sonya was ordained as a pastor in the Church of God.

​

Sonya, along with her husband Jason and two sons, live in the Edwardsburg area.  She enjoys spending time with friends, camping, and kayaking.

Worship Director - Chris Martin

Chris started playing music in church at age 7 by playing hymns on the piano and guitar. Later he played in various  bluegrass and southern gospel groups that traveled throughout the midwest and southern states. He grew up in Ohio and made the move to Indiana in 2011.

Chris has been at MCC since 2018 along with his wife, April and their family.  Chris has five children and two grandchildren.  Music runs in the family. April runs an incredible soundboard and two of their children participate on the worship team.

Marcia Burns - Media Director

MCC is Marcia's home church.  Her grandparents brought her faithfully beginning at the age of two.   After high school, Marcia moved away for a few years, was called to be a Pastor's wife, met Denver, and the rest, as they say, is history.  She never dreamed that God would call her back to her home church, but she's so glad he did.

Marcia takes care of all of our social media accounts as well as any screen or printed materials along with her duties as a Pastor's wife.

In her spare time, Marcia enjoys playing games with her family, reading, and quilting.
